Porcelain Veneers May Be the Answer for Your New, Gorgeous Smile

What Are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are a dependable, affordable solution to imperfect smiles. They are thin, tooth-colored porcelain shells that cover your natural teeth. Long lasting and natural looking, they can protect your teeth from further damage and give you the beautiful smile you desire. If you live in Yucca Valley, Twentynine Palms, or Palm Springs, CA or the surrounding area and would like to improve your smile, we would like to serve you!

How Do Veneers Work?

Because they are as resilient as tooth enamel, porcelain veneers protect the teeth from damage and can last many years. Veneers are custom-made to the contour of the patient’s teeth and bonded to the enamel over the course of one or two in-office procedures.

The Veneer Placement Process

Veneer placement follows these steps:

  1. If the patient’s teeth are particularly sensitive, a local anesthetic may be used, but it usually isn’t necessary. The dentist cleans the tooth and determines the ideal shade, then removes a thin layer of enamel to make room for the veneer.
  2. The dentist takes an impression of the tooth and places a temporary veneer.
  3. Once the custom veneer has been delivered, the tooth is cleaned and the veneer is etched, rinsed, dried, and finally cemented onto the tooth.
  4. A curing light helps harden the adhesive to attach the veneer to the tooth. The dentist polishes the veneer and removes any excess material.

Are Veneers Right For You?

Veneers can help with any of the following issues:

  • Worn down, chipped, or broken teeth
  • Stained or discolored teeth
  • Uneven or irregularly shaped teeth
  • Gaps between teeth

Whether we are helping fill in a gap, lengthening a worn-down tooth, or covering cracks or chips, porcelain veneers can give you a fuller, more symmetrical smile — one that you can show the world with confidence. For patients with alignment issues or less severe discoloration, orthodontic and whitening treatment will usually be preferable to veneers. More severe damage to a tooth would likely benefit better from a crown.

Taking Care of Your Veneers

It’s important to take good care of your veneers once you have them so that they will last as long as they should before they need replacement. This mainly consists of the same good brushing and flossing habits you maintain for your natural teeth, and you can minimize the risk of the veneers becoming stained by avoiding foods and drinks that stain, such as coffee and red wine.

Veneers Can Be Part of a Smile Makeover

A smile makeover goes beyond responding to dental problems as they arise. A smile makeover is a comprehensive cosmetic dentistry plan that’s uniquely suited to your own facial features and aesthetic preferences.

Our caring team and doctors focus on transforming ordinary smiles into brilliant, stunning smiles through our smile makeover process, often including porcelain veneers. Regardless of what your smile looks like today, we are confident that we can improve your smile.
